Omnividi Privacy Policy
Last Updated: December 16, 2025
Introduction
Omnividi ("we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting the privacy and security of our users ("you" or "your"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use the Omnividi mobile application (the "App") and our related services.
Our mission is to provide hyperlocal security intelligence to keep communities safe. To achieve this, we collect sensitive data, including precise location and biometric verification information. We take this responsibility seriously. We have designed our systems to balance the urgent need for real-time security information with your fundamental right to privacy.
Please read this privacy policy carefully. By accessing or using the Omnividi App, you agree to the collection and use of your information in accordance with this policy.
1. The Information We Collect
We collect information in three primary ways: information you provide directly, information collected automatically via your device permissions, and content you create.
A. Information You Provide Directly
To ensure the integrity of our network and prevent misinformation, Omnividi requires identity verification.
- Account Registration Data: Phone number and basic profile details.
- Identity Verification Data (Sensitive): To fulfill our "Verified Citizen" requirement, we collect your National Identity Number (NIN) or other government-issued ID numbers.
- Biometric Data (Sensitive): We collect a facial scan during registration to match against your ID document. This is used solely for identity verification and proof of "liveness" to prevent bot accounts.
B. Information Collected Automatically
When you use the App, we automatically collect certain data crucial to its functionality.
- Precise Location Data (Sensitive): Omnividi is a location-based service. We collect your device's precise GPS location in real-time. This is necessary to:
- Verify that you are physically present at the location where you are reporting an incident ("Proof of Presence").
- Deliver relevant security alerts happening near you ("Geofencing").
- Enable navigation features away from danger zones.
- Device and Usage Information: We collect data about your device model, operating system, IP address, unique device identifiers (like Google Advertising ID), and how you interact with the App (e.g., features used, time spent).
C. Content You Create (Incident Reports)
- Live Video and Audio: When you use the in-app "Sentry" camera to report an incident, we collect the video and audio you record.
- Metadata Locking: We automatically embed immutable metadata into your report, including the precise timestamp, GPS coordinates, and your device ID, to certify the authenticity of the footage.
- Please Note: Omnividi does not allow uploads from your device gallery. All reported content must be captured live through the App.
2. Google Play Permissions
To function correctly, the Omnividi App requires access to specific sensitive permissions on your Android device. We will always ask for your explicit consent before accessing these data types.
- Location (ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION and ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION): Required to verify incident report locations and send nearby safety alerts. We may request background location access to alert you to danger even when the app is closed.
- Camera (CAMERA): Required to capture live video evidence of security incidents and for biometric face scanning during registration.
- Microphone (RECORD_AUDIO): Required to capture audio along with video reports to provide context to security situations.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use your data for specific, defined purposes aimed at improving community safety:
- To Provide the Service: Processing incident reports, verifying your location, sending push notifications for nearby threats, and displaying real-time safety maps.
- Identity Verification & Trust: Using your NIN and biometric data to authenticate your identity, ensuring that all reports on the platform come from real, verifiable humans and reducing fake news.
- Safety and Security: Analyzing reports (sometimes using AI) to detect high-priority threats (e.g., gunshots, distress keywords) and prioritize alerts.
- Aggregated Intelligence (B2B): We may anonymize and aggregate location and incident data to create "heatmaps" and risk analysis reports for business partners (such as logistics companies or private security firms). Your Personal Information is never shared in these aggregated reports.
- Legal Compliance: To comply with applicable laws, regulations, and legal requests from law enforcement.
4. How We Share Your Information
We adhere to a principle of "Public Anonymity, Private Verification."
A. With Other Users (Publicly)
When you post an incident report, other users can see the video/audio content, the location, and the time of the incident. They will see your chosen pseudonym (e.g., "Agent-007"). They will not see your real name, phone number, or NIN.
B. With Service Providers
We share data with trusted third-party vendors who help us operate the App, such as:
- Identity Verification APIs: To validate your NIN and biometric scan against official databases.
- Cloud Hosting and Data Storage: Providers who securely store our data.
- Mapping Services: To provide the map interface and navigation.
These providers are contractually obligated to protect your data and only use it for the services they provide to us.
C. For Legal and Safety Reasons
We may disclose your information, including your true identity, if we have a good faith belief that such disclosure is necessary to:
- Comply with a valid court order, subpoena, or legal process served on us.
- Prevent imminent physical harm or financial loss.
- Investigate fraud or violations of our Terms of Service.
- Cooperate with law enforcement authorities in active criminal investigations related to reports made on the platform.
5. Data Retention
We retain your Personal Information and Biometric Data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you services. We retain incident report data (videos and location metadata) for historical analysis and evidence purposes, potentially for longer periods, depending on the nature of the incident and legal requirements. When data is no longer needed, it is securely deleted or anonymized.
6. Data Security
We implement robust technical, administrative, and physical security measures designed to protect your data from unauthorized access, disclosure, or misuse. This includes encryption of data in transit (using TLS/SSL) and at rest. However, no internet transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Your Rights and Choices
Depending on your jurisdiction (including users covered by NDPR or GDPR), you may have specific rights regarding your data:
- Access and Correction: You have the right to request a copy of the personal data we hold about you and to correct inaccuracies.
- Deletion: You can request the deletion of your account and associated personal data. Note that some anonymized incident data may be retained for platform integrity.
- Location Settings: You can manage your location permissions through your device settings at any time. However, disabling precise location will render core features of the App unusable (you will not be able to report incidents or receive relevant alerts).
- Biometric Data: You may revoke consent for the storage of your biometric data by deleting your account, though this will prevent you from using the platform to report incidents.
To exercise these rights, please contact us at the email provided below.
8. Children's Privacy
Omnividi is intended for use by adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 18. If we become aware that we have collected data from a child under 18, we will take steps to delete such information.
9. International Data Transfers
Your information may be transferred to, and maintained on, computers located outside of your state, province, country, or other governmental jurisdiction where the data protection laws may differ from those of your jurisdiction. If you are located outside Nigeria and choose to provide information to us, please note that we transfer the data, including Personal Data, to secure servers (potentially in Europe or the US) for processing. Your use of the App represents your consent to this transfer.
10. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. We will notify you of any material changes via an in-app notification or email. We encourage you to review this page periodically for the latest information on our privacy practices.
